So, I consumed a soul, like usual, except that soul has become a part of me. I have the man's memories, almost as if they were my own. His name was Srod, was a member of the Cult of Erythnul, and he served a man by the name of Bardon, who we also killed. Bardon and Sir worked together, and held roughly the same rank in the Cult of Erythnul. The cult was, until recently, fairly unorganized. Only a few basic rituals and/or beliefs were held in common from one group to the next. However, over the past decade or so, the conclaves have been united by a high priest of Erythnul, one who claims that the fallen god was imprisoned, not destroyed, and so now Erythnul's followers have turned from worshiping the fallen god, to seeking to restore him to his former glory. Lycanthropy has become widespread throughout the cult as a means to empower them.
The high priest of Erythnul has no name, or at least Srod doesn't know it and hasn't ever heard anyone refer to the high priest by anything other than the title. The high priest is brutal, wielding magics unheard of before. Bardon's predecessor had a son who, along with some friends, thought it would be fun to terrorize a local girl, only to be killed. The high priest was furious at this, as it threatened to expose them. At the next meeting, the high priest apparently ripped the man's soul from his body and then ate it.
The event sounds similar to, but it looks different than, what I do. There was no violence, no ripping, no need to get beneath the skin. The high priest barely even touched the man. And when he ate the soul, he ate it. I only absorb it.
The high priest wears a hood and a veil, so Srod has never seen the high priest's face, so there's no way of knowing what the high priest looks like: race, age, marks, etc.
Any questions?
Araja: Does he know any more details about the girl that was terrorized? And where's the head quarters for this cult located?
ReplyDelete[Billy] Srod heard that it was some farmers adopted daughter, some half-breed, but he wasn't all that familiar with the girl or her family.
DeleteAs far as a head quarters for the cult, there isn't one, not really. The high priest controls things, but no one knows where the high priest is from. the high Priest sends messages to the various conclaves, or visits them in person, and directs things that way. Certainly, the larger cities have larger conclaves, usually underground in tunnel networks or catacombs where they can work in secret. There's one such conclave in the City of Lupik and Srod and his group were to meet back there after finishing off Podunk.
Rekka: Oh...Really? that sheds some light on things.
