Penelope Reid isn't quite what she seems. As Cortanna and Sanji quickly found out, she's a Succubus. However, Penelope hasn't a clue what a Succubus really is other than she apparently looks like one and people seem to really hate them.
However knowing she grew up in a farming community with Paladins for parents, she always had a hankering for adventure. She's heard lots of stories, especially about Araja on her quest to defeat Erythnul, and craved to go on her own set of adventures. Finally that day came; the day she found this enormous scythe. That's saying something considering Penelope towers over most folk at 8' 5" in height. It was said she must have been blessed by Heironious with her height and strength. Anyways, she was mesmerized by the scythe even though she knew it would be worthless to harvest grain with considering how jagged the blade was. She inquired about how the merchant came across such a large scythe. He being a traveling merchant and not being familiar with Penelope, jokingly says if she could carry it, she could have it. Penelope easily lifts it up and it has been with her since. However, after lifting the scythe and displaying her great strength, the merchant became alarmed. He quickly called for Paladins who took a look at her through this glass the merchant had. People passing would venture a look and were able to see who Penelope really was. They confirmed Penelope as a Succubus by placing her in an anti magic field and having her disguise completely fail. Before she knew it, she was exiled and commanded to take the scythe with her. It hurt. Her parents loved her. The town loved her. But suddenly the town hated her just as her parents predicted. That's why she stayed disguise so they wouldn't hate her. Apparently she was a monster and for once felt it true. But on the brighter side, she now had a huge scythe and was free to go out on her own adventures! Clearly this was the best thing for her.
